Zero to AI Hero: A 52-Week Journey from Newbie to Know-HoW

Join us on a 52 week adventure to increase AI literacy for all. Each week we will add a challenge that will give you hands-on experience, expand your knowledge of what is possible, and inspire you to integrate cutting edge generative AI tools to enhance your personal productivity. 

52 Week Generative AI Literacy Challenge

Foundational Understanding

Building a strong AI foundation by understanding its history, terminology, and key principles in a hands-on and engaging way.

Objective: Learn how Gen AI can change communication tone.

Week 1

Use the following prompt in ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or your favorite Gen AI tool:
How should I introduce myself at a coffee meeting, in 1-2 sentences, based on my LI description [copy description here]? Write it to be casual and use Gen Z slang. 

Objective: Compare how different GenAI tools respond to the same prompt.

Week 5

It's a Battle Royale! 🥊 Host an AI chatbot battle royale: Give Claude, ChatGPT, Deepseek, and Gemini the same prompt and analyze differences in approach, knowledge, and limitations. 

Creative Applications

Exploring AI's potential in creative fields, enabling participants to innovate and express themselves in new and imaginative ways.

Objective: Experiment with GenAI's image generation capabilities

Week 2

Pick a famous painting, give it the context of modern office workers and an activity and ask GenAI to generate an image. Share your results in the chat below. Tools you could use are: Chat GPT or Midjourney 

Objective: Develop collaborative writing skills

Week 3

Collaborate with AI to write a short story, alternating between human and AI-generated paragraphs to understand creative collaboration. 

Professional Development

Enhancing career-related skills by leveraging AI for professional growth, effective communication, and strategic preparation.

Objective: Use GenAI to help you prepare for an interview.

Week 4

Practice mock interviews with AI, focusing on both technical and behavioral questions in your field. 

Objective: AI Email Bootcamp! Write professional emails using AI to analyze

Week 9

 Pick a common workplace scenario (e.g., requesting a meeting, responding to feedback, or declining an invitation). Write an initial version of the email based on the situation. Use an AI tool to assess tone, clarity, and professionalism. Revise the email based on AI feedback, focusing on tone, conciseness, and impact. BONUS: Experiment with different tones (formal, friendly, assertive, etc.)

Personal Productivity

Streamlining daily tasks using AI, empowering individuals to manage their time and resources more effectively.

Objective: Develop a marketing strategy

Week 6

Develop a marketing strategy with AI assistance, learning about target audience analysis. Remember to ask AI to recommend the best platforms to reach your audience, create sample messages, and suggest ways to measure campaign success. 

Education and Training

Fostering learning and knowledge sharing through AI, empowering participants to explore, teach, and grow collaboratively.

Objective: Teacher's Pet! Create flashcards to learn something new!

Week 8

Pick a subject you want to learn (e.g., history, science, or pop culture trivia). Use an AI tool to create questions and answers based on the topic. Import the flashcards into an app like Anki or Quizlet and test yourself.

Content Creation

Improving creative content production through AI, fostering skills in storytelling, design, and digital engagement.

Ethical Considerations

Understanding and addressing ethical concerns in AI, including fairness, accountability, and transparency, to promote responsible and equitable use.

Objective: Bias Detective! Recognize common forms of bias in AI-generated c

Week 7

Select a topic where biases may emerge (e.g., hiring practices, historical narratives, or product reviews) and ask your favorite LLM to produce text on that topic. Using your own analytical skills, evaluate the response for potential biases in language, assumptions, or data representation. BONUS: Experiment with modifying the prompt to see how  different phrasings impact bias in the response.  

Project Management

Highlighting how AI tools can enhance project management skills, streamline workflows, and improve decision-making efficiency.
